Meal Planning Tips
MEAL PLANNING TIPS!
Weekend is over and it is back to the grind. What is one thing that can help make the rest of the week a little less stressful? MEAL PLANNING. Meal planning allows you to plan healthy and nutritious meals for your family. It also saves you from multiple trips to the grocery store during the week. And the fewer trips we take to the grocery store will save us time and money.
I like to keep the meal planning process simple. These are the three key “tips” I follow when it comes to meal planning for my family:
1. Take inventory – Look in your fridge, pantry and freezer to see what needs to be used up and what you are running low on. This also helps from buying something you already have on hand which in turn in also saving you money!
2. Use a menu planner – Create your own or download this FREE menu planning form from www.theprojectgirl.com. You can stick it on your fridge or bulletin board and everyone can see what Mom is planning for meals that week.
3. Make a grocery list – Once your meals are planned out you can start putting together your grocery list. Be sure that when you make your list you do your best to stick to it at the store (less impulse buying). You will not be wandering the aisles trying to remember what you do or do not need and you will be less likely to forget something.
To save yourself some more time, take advantage of online shopping. For example, Harris Teeter has their Express Lane where you can order your groceries online, designate the time you would like to pick them up and all the shopping is done for you. You do not even need to get out of your car!
Happy meal planning this Manic Monday!
